Chuck Mallonee came to us interested in getting stronger for Spartan Races. He has done that and more!

Chuck, and his wife Teresa, have taken full responsibility and control of their health and fitness. They have committed as a couple and we can see how much that has benefitted them!

Chuck is an incredible hard worker, on top of his full time job that has his traveling often. He has figured out how to fit in his workouts and make sure he is eating well so he can have energy and stamina to fuel his active lifestyle. - What was the problem you were having before you signed up for Fuel Kavod nutrition coaching?


”Even though exercise and workouts have always been a priority for me, I knew that my nutrition was lacking. It showed not so much in body fat for me as it did in my energy levels each day - - especially for Crossfit workouts. Some days I would have plenty of energy, and other days, I felt like I was being run over by the Crossfit bus - - dragging in to workout and just never really getting a second wind. I suspected a nutrition change was in order if I ever wanted to take full advantage of my efforts at Crossfit, but had no idea how to start.”

- What was different about our nutrition program compared to diets you’ve tried in the past?


My past history of "dieting" has been to eat more salads, and cut out all sugar. I would immediately drop weight, feel a little better, but everything would plateau and I would go back to old ways. It also mattered that my wife Teresa and I often did not share the same nutrition goals which made it even harder for either of us to be successful. When we started together with Coach Heather and Fuel Kavod, it was so incredibly helpful to have her listen to our goals, study our eating habits and offer a plan that allowed us to focus less on what kinds of foods we were eating and more on what nutrition levels those foods contributed to our daily goals. We could share meals with similar macros in them, but at different levels depending on our individualized plans. For the first time, we both had a clear plan, but one that offered lots of flexibility in what we could choose to eat so we didn't always feel like we were deprived. It was also super helpful to have not only a level of accountability each day, but a coach and cheerleader to help us both recognize the victories and accept the inevitable setbacks along the way. For me, Coach Heather was able to research and offer guidance for my competition preparations - - from the days leading up to a Crossfit Open or Spartan Race, to the day of, and the recovery days following. That has been invaluable to me. Coach Heather never pretends to have all the answers, but she does stand behind her level of commitment to research and find an answer! This is clearly the philosophy behind Fuel Kavod.”

- Take us to the moment when you realized our nutrition program was actually going to solve your problem.


”For me, it was the very obvious point when I realized that my energy levels at work and in the gym had leveled out. It's been a year and I can honestly say that I've not had even one day when I wasn't sure I had the energy to complete the day's workout! So different from a year ago I also realized that I wasn't going hungry, in fact at times I struggled to eat all that my body needed, but all the work I was putting in at the gym was showing up on my body. I was and am much more "cut" then I have been in many years. It's not just been hard work, it's been that my body is receiving what it needs to work, and nothing extra that just converts to fat.”

- Tell us what life looks like now that your problem is solved, or is being solved?


”Although I've been a very active runner and competitor for most of my life, this is the most fit I've been since I was in my 20's, even though I was a serious distance runner for most of my 40's and 50's. It has been a combination of greatly increased strength, more sustained endurance, and a "whole body" level of fitness I've never experienced before. The great programming of Crossfit Kavod has been a big part of it, but none of that happens without the right fuel to accomplish it!
